Shared Folder Permission Viewer

A Windows NTFS permission auditing utility for scanning shared folders and reviewing explicit, inherited, orphaned, and risky access entries.

About this app

Shared Folder Permission Viewer helps Windows administrators inspect NTFS permissions across shared folders, nested directory trees, local accounts, Active Directory users and groups, and orphaned SIDs. It combines a searchable permission explorer with focused security analysis views for inheritance overrides, deny rules, elevated privileges, unauthorized entries, and account lookups.

Capabilities

Built for NTFS permission visibility

Focused views make permission scans easier to search, analyze, export, and revisit.

Scan shared folders recursively and collect NTFS access control entries into a searchable permission tree.
Separate Active Directory users and groups from local and builtin accounts during scans.
Highlight inherited permissions, explicit overrides, deny rules, elevated privileges, unauthorized entries, and orphaned SIDs.
Search by folder path or identity to trace where a user or group has access.
Export audit results to HTML and Excel for review, filtering, sharing, and offline evidence.
Use multithreaded scans for larger folder trees and file server shares.
Store scan sessions locally so previous audit results can be reopened for review.
